Venue history

The Paramount Old Ship Hotel is steeped in History. Mentioned in Vanity Fair, written by Thackeray in 1848. This is the City's oldest hotel, dating back to 1559 & the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Many famous people have stayed over the years from Lord Byron, Charles Dickens to Winston Churchill himself. It is known that The Prince Regent was kept informed of who was staying , this was so he could invite to guests to the lavish surroundings of the Royal Pavilion. The Main Function room is one of the most Historic venues in Sussex. This elegant Regency room is named after the famous violinist who played a recital from the "floating" balcony in 1831. With nearly 450 years of History, the one constant is the excellent service and attention to detail and with all that history, where better to celebrate your Wedding than in the Regency splendour of Brighton's oldest and best loved hotel.

Venue location

Situated on Brighton Seafront. The Paramount Old Ship Hotel is situated between the 2 Piers. The Hotel is also on the Gateway to the Famous Lanes, which are full of antique jewelry shop, Boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Venue style

The Banqueting Suite is situated in one of the oldest parts of the Hotel, which is a grade II listed Building. As you enter from the Ship Street entrance into the elegant Lobby, ideal for receiving your guests, you then make your way up the gliding staircase to the magnificent Paganini Ballroom, this room is perfect setting for a reception and has a dance floor. This room has everything you would expect from a Period Regency Building and is rich in decor. From the ceiling hang 3 large brass chandeliers; each surrounded by ornate ceiling roses. At one end of the room is a stage with a balcony running the length of the other. Another large room is the Regency room. Adjacent to the Paganini this room is characterised by its priceless Waterford crystal chandeliers, which hang from high ceiling. As the name suggests the decor is in the Regency style. In the main areas of the hotel the spacious lounge areas provide light & airy surroundings to relax in.
