Paramount Group of Hotels, now part of Barcelo Hotels & Resorts was established in 1994.

Today the Paramount brand operates 20, 4-star quality hotels across Scotland, Northern England, Central England, Southern England and Wales. These include the prestigous Lygon Arms Hotel, in Broadway, the Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh, the Marine Hotel in Troon, the Majestic in Harrogate and the Oxford Hotel in Oxford.

With over 2700 bedrooms and over 160 conference & meeting rooms across the group, 18 health and leisure clubs and spacious grounds for team building and outdoor events in many locations, Paramount offers extensive facilities to both corporate and leisure guests.

Paramount started with four hotels in 1994, which were:
Shrigley Hall in Cheshire, The Angel Hotel in Cardiff, The Cheltenham Park Hotel in Cheltenham and The Palace Hotel in Buxton.

In 1997 three further hotels were acquired from Forte Hotels: The Imperial Hotel in Blackpool, The Imperial Hotel in Torquay and The Majestic in Harrogate.

In 1999 The Old Ship in Brighton was purchased and then Paramount acquired four hotels from the Scottish Highland Group comprising The Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh, Redworth Hall in County Durham, The Marine in Troon and The Stirling Highland Hotel in Stirling.

In 2000 the group bought The Oxford Hotel, just outside Oxford city centre - a perfect conference hotel.

In 2004 Dawnay Day Hotel Management Limited was created to manage the portfolio of hotels on behalf of the Dawnay Day Group.

In January 2005 the group grew again with the acquisition of 3 Hanover Hotels at Basingstoke, Daventry and Hinckley. Followed that year with Walton Hall & Hotel.

In December 2005 a further 3 hotels were purchased from Furlong, The Lygon Arms, A small leading hotel of the world in Broadway Cotswolds, Billesley Manor, near Stratford-upon-Avon & Combe Grove Manor, near Bath.

In September 2007, 45 year contract with Barcelo Hotels & Resorts to manage the portfolio.
