“On 4th November 2005 I wrote to you about the possibility of us choosing Barceló Hotels /formerly Paramount group of hotels/ for our main celebratory event this year. You subsequently telephone me, following which I had a meeting with Manju Goel when I enquired about the chances of Walton Hall being ready by September 2007. Manju put me in touch with peter Montague. Peter embraced the concept from the start and, once the planning permission hurdle was cleared, he did everything in his power to assist me in the delivery of my vision. There were times when I knew he was under immense pressure, but he always responded to me and never showed frustration at my anxiety for it all to be perfect. Foodwise, he listened to what we wanted and, together with his banqueting team, came up with an innovative plan that worked. My husband and I stayed in the Hall over the weekend and were extremely impressed with the charm and helpfulness of all the staff. Those members who were staying in the Hotels gave me the same reports of the staff here. They are a credit to Peter and the Barceló UK Group. I am now basking in the glory of a job well done, but it was a huge team effort. Walton Hall has become, in RREC language, synonymous with 2007 and our 50th anniversary.
