This thatched farmhouse cottage was the childhood home of Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway, whom he married in 1582. Situated jut a short distance from Stratford's town centre, it offers visitors the chance to learn about the life and times of this farming family, and to retrace the steps that Shakespeare must have taken when courting Anne.
On show inside are the famous Hathaway bed and other pieces of furniture owned by the family. Outside, visitors can enjoy the traditional English cottage garden, an orchard, the Shakespeare Tree Garden and the Shottery Brook.
The cottage continued to be home to the descendants of the Hathaway family until the 19th century.
