Carpe Diem Theatre

Jul - Aug 2008 (annual)

Carpe Diem Theatre's Summer Theatre Academy once again comes to Stratford's Civic Hall for three weeks in the summer. Budding young actors and technicians can attend a series of unique programmes in theatre training and study, which culminate in a series of final performances. Shakespeare, surely, would have approved and its great to get the kids busy during the long summer break.

Organised since 2002 by the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust and Carpe Diem Theatre, the programme consists of courses which include practicals, workshops and a chance to perform.

There are four different courses for 2006:

The Actor (Ages 8-21)
A full programme, including evenings and weekends, affording the opportunity to learn from professionals in various aspects of performance, such as voice-work, dance, improvisation, circus skills and stage combat.

The Technician (Ages 14-21)
It's not just what's on stage that counts, it's what goes on behind the scenes, and the technicians and stage manager must ensure that the "show must go on." Learn the skills to be in the technical team, finding out about all aspects of design, construction and backstage preparations.

Production Workshop (Ages 8-21)
Open to a wider spectrum to learn about backstage and how to put a show on

Fairytale Theatre (Ages 5-7)
An ideal way to get young ones hooked on theatre as they prepare their own performance on a fairytale theme.
