Making the most of its spectacular setting, Warwick Castle hosts a major annual outdoor concert for music and pyrotechnics lovers. This year the evening features the Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera, Europe's busiest touring opera company, playing classic favourites.

The programme features The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas, Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture and Puccini's Tosca and Madame Butterfly. Seasoned concert-goers bring a well-packed hamper so that they can enjoy a picnic while listening to the music. At the end of the concert, the fireworks provide a memorable finale.

Be sure to take a blanket (and an umbrella to be on the safe side) and arrive early to get a good spot.
