South West Coast Path

Daily

The South West Coast Path is Britain's longest national trail, which at 630 miles would take a fit walker a whole six weeks to complete! Few manage this feat, but thousands every year walk some part of the clifftop path, which boasts some of the finest coastal scenery in Europe.

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park

Daily

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is about much more than just displaying animals for its visitors' entertainment - it's devoted to preserving the world's natural heritage. The zoo has come a long way since it was first opened in 1923 by Herbert Whitely, a shy, eccentric millionaire.

Living Coasts

Daily

Did you know South American fur seals can swim at speeds of 25 mph? Or that penguins live on the South African coast, not just in cold climates? You'll find out at Living Coasts, Torquay's best seafront visitor attraction which opened in July 2003.

Babbacombe Model Village

Daily

Few labours of love can match the extraordinary efforts of Thomas Ernest Dobbins, who died in 1997. He was a Lancastrian architect in Torquay who devoted 50 years to creating a model village of the West Country at 1/12 of its original scale. His famous creation has more than 400 models set in beautifully landscaped grounds, which bloom with flowers each summer.

Bygones Victorian Museum

Daily

The Bygones Victorian Museum lets visitors walk down a faithfully reproduced Victorian Street and view replica period rooms. The military-minded can experience what it was like to be incarcerated in the midst of the First World War, in a trench in France in 1916, or to hide in an Anderson shelter during the Second World War.

Torbay Christmas Carnival

22 Nov 2008 (annual)

The Torbay Christmas Carnival sees costumed participants and impressive floats leave Lymington Road car park to process through the streets. A Santa's Grotto provides even more fun for the kids.

Held in Torquay Harbour by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, in conjunction with Brixham Yacht Club, Paignton Sailing Club and Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club, the Ocean BMW Torbay Week, new in 2008, replaces the Torbay regattas of old.
