Set in superb landscaped grounds, the Durham Light Infantry Museum tells the story of County Durham's regiment from 1758 to 1968, with particular emphasis on both world wars.
The displays focus on the experience of war, using letter and diary extracts, as well as the actual voices of soldiers from the Second World War. Family friendly, there are red tunics for younger children to wear and two "Horrible History" areas for older children.
Upstairs, the Art Gallery offers an exhibition programme and regular events, from concerts to practical workshops, throughout the year. Outside, the landscaped grounds offer a stunning view of Durham Cathedral.
