Every year since 1979, the Buxton Festival has created its own niche in the operatic world by unearthing some rare pieces and staging them in the town's opera house.
Highlights of the 2007 festival included performances of Donizetti's Roberto Devereux and Offenbach's Bluebeard, Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Purcell's King Arthur, Benda's Romeo and Juliet, Boesmans' Julie and a recital by Dame Felicity Lott.
Not just for opera fans, there's also an impressive morning literary series featuring distinguished writers, broadcasters and personalities.
