The Royal Show, held at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, claims to be "Europe's premier agricultural fair," boasting over 200 rural craft stands and the biggest flower marquee in Europe.
Working farmers are very much at the centre of affairs, with large areas devoted to the economic and political issues facing an economic sector in crisis. Other areas are devoted to the country life and to the 18,000 foreign visitors (out of the annual 160,000 total) who come to the fair.
A British Food pavilion, courses on horses at a "racing village" and 40 acres of machinery provide further attractions, and a host of events including the Tractor Driver of the Year competition provide a break from touring the animal exhibits.
