A week of festivities leads up to the carnival weekend that takes over the entire village of Moulton, with folk music and morris dancing galore.
There are concerts and exhibitions all week but on the second Saturday the morris dancers converge on the village to take part in the traditional May Queen procession. Groups of men with sticks and hankies take it turns to pull the queen around the village on the maycart, stopping to dance at every opportunity.
Visitors will find a craft market throughout the day, art exhibitions, stalls in the street, and more dancing displays that last until the evening, when you can exercise your legs at the Ceilidh.
This is a wonderful time to visit the village as it is decorated with flower displays that welcome in the spring.
